A Wedding Poem for Vicky and Phil
This is for Vicky, sweet daughter of mine.
Though always becoming, today you're divine.
I'm so proud of the way that you've made a new life,
And I know Phil feels blessed he can call you 'his wife'.
But Phillip, beware when she heads for the shops
She'll set out for a loaf and come back with two tops!
And if you thought shoes were a practical thing
Revise your opinion - think high heels and bling!
Phil too, though obsessed with 'the beautiful game',
And prone to plan barbies when forecasts say rain,
Is there with a joke when the going gets tough.
He makes things OK when you've had quite enough.
Together it's clear that they make a great team.
The new home that they've built proves they're Builders Supreme!
Phil worked like a trooper, from morning till night,
While Vick shopped for bargains and made the sums right.
So join with me please, on this their wedding day
To toast their good luck as their cruise sails away.
May the sunshine be bright and the sky clearest blue
We wish happiness, comfort and joy to you two.
A toast: To happiness, comfort and joy!

Dear Andrew
It’s been years since I first met with you,
But that moment in Romford still thrills me right through!
Your dark hair, your brown eyes brought my world to a halt,
I was putty inside, I just could not find fault.
Soon after, we moved in with your Mum and Dad,
The bestest of inlaws a girl ever had!
While I have cut hair and helped people look good,
You’ve helped people get fit and eat things that they should.
Together, we’ve grown, and we’ve cultured a pearl:
A beautiful princess, our wonderful girl.
Annabel, three years old, and the image of Dad.
She’s the bestest of daughters a couple could have!
Now fourteen years after we first got engaged,
Although we’ve got older, our love hasn’t changed.
Our marriage spells happiness, comfort and joy.
Love,
The girl, who just knows she’s found her perfect boy!
Tracy and Graham
Dear persons here present, before these two wed,
The Bride has requested a few things be said.
Now Graham, don’t panic, don’t lunge for the door,
For the gist of it is, she could not love you more!
However…theirs wasn’t a, ‘Love at First Sight’,
It wasn’t a ‘Fanfare, in walks Mr Right!’
It took quite some time to see woods through these trees,
She was neat, he was not, she was chalk, he was cheese.
So picture a moment, the first time they meet…
The Queens Head Public House, a quiet corner seat . . .
Graham all casual, laid back, sipping coke,
Cool as a cucumber, bear of a bloke!
Tracy, by contrast, clutches her wine.
Manicured nails, smelling divine.
Still stressy from work, all those children to sort,
All those targets to meet, on a budget of nought!
Time passes, they chat, and have plenty to say,
Though not in the usual, ‘Yes, Me Too!’ way.
Turns out he’s a veggie, in love with his cat,
In a house full of boyz toys and car and bike tatt.
She’s more into facials, days out, trips abroad.
Nights-in on the sofa, they just leave her bored!
In truth, they were opposites liked different things.
So how come today, this fine wedding, the rings?
Well. . .Time passed, they were off, and then they were on.
But fate played it’s part, and before very long,
Graham showed Tracy, when push comes to shove,
He’d always support and protect her with love.
And thus, so it was their relationship grew,
And Italian Montains, his romantic cue,
Graham proposed, such a magical scene,
Him the Snow-King and her, the Snow-Queen!
So Ladies and Gents, we are honoured for sure,
To witness this marriage, we cannot ask more.
Our couple show us, that wherever you start,
It’s where you end up, that will capture your heart!
Gemma and Jon
I’m so proud of my Gemma, all blonde and divine,
She brings sunshine and laughter to this life of mine.
And now that she’s married Jon, her soulmate true,
The sun’s going to shine on his future-life too.
I remember them both, Holmwood School, aged sixteen,
Big-Jon’s off-road bike was the real ‘teenage dream!’
He would buzz round, just as friends, for a chat,
Till uni and travels put paid to all that!
Cue 2005, Holmwood’s ex-pupil ‘Do’,
You know, plastic cups and the old barbeque,
Gobby and Jobby lock eyes from afar . . .
Spend the rest of the evening in his clapped-out car!
This time, they knew better, our lovers stuck fast!
You could tell right away that their romance would last.
Both caring, both sporty, and both Eastie fans,
To the strains of Jack Johnson my Gem caught her man!
Fours years on, champagne picnic, just hills, a warm breeze,
And Jon turns to Gemma says, ‘Marry me please?’
And thus we are gathered today in this room . . .
Raise your glasses, a toast please,’The Bride and the Groom!’
