A Wedding Poem for Sarah and David

Who was to know, when she answered that Ad,
That her fate had been sealed, and it wasn’t half bad.
‘Two children’, it said, ‘ages seven and two,
Need a nanny to help them; Explain what to do’.

The following week, Mrs Morgan she met
And her children, her husband, and one smelly pet!
She found them most pleasant, they liked how she smiled,
In fact with each other they were most beguiled.

And thus, the next day, as her dad drove away,
She felt homesick of course, but still happy to stay.
She played with the youngsters, she gave them a bath,
she stopped them from fighting, and taught them to laugh!

‘A miracle worker,’ their father exclaimed
‘We must pay her back ,for our joy and her pain!’
Should Sarah meet David? D’you think they’d get on?
We should host a soiree of fine food and song!’

Dave arrived in a sports car, she thought him quite flash,
And she noted his eyes and his cufflinks – they matched!
Much later, outside, as the guests drove away.
The two of them made plans to meet up next day.

First date, they played tennis, rowed boats on the Thames,
And before very long, they were much more than friends!
On her twenty-fifth birthday, he offered a ring,
Brought a tray up for breakfast, and flashed her the bling.

‘Oh David,’ she swooned, in his arms tight cocooned,
‘I will give you the Earth, and the stars, and the Moon!
And so folks, before us a couple we see,
With the world at their feet, and a love that flows free.

Please join me in toasting the health of these two,
And wishing them luck - fairytales can come true!
